Tick in Uzbekistan

Hello, I live in Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan in the second floor flat. Today I caught it crawling on my neck. Thankfully, it didn’t have time to bite me but I’m afraid it might have friends. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

Dear Resident of Uzbekistan,

This is a tick, but we are not certain of the species.  Ticks feed on blood, and many species are opportunistic, and if their normal host is not present, they will feed on humans.  Ticks can be either soft or hard bodied, live in a variety of habitats, spread diseases, and survive the cold Ubekistan winters, so caution should be exercised when they are encountered. Our recommendation is to call a professional for tick pest control services if you start seeing these in your space.
