Mexican Cactus Fly

Dear Gerald,
This is not a Bee Fly.  It is a Mexican Cactus Fly, a species of Flower Fly or Hover Fly in the family Syrphidae.  According to BugGuide:  “Larvae feed on rotting cactus.”
