These bugs have been hanging around my cucumbers. What are they are they friendly or foe?

Dear Lam,
We are confident that these immature Leaf Footed Bugs are in the genus
Leptoglossus based on this BugGuide image, and several members of the genus are found in Texas.  They can be difficult to tell apart at this young age.  According to BugGuide:  “some [species] are extremely polyphagous” meaning they feed on a large number of plant species, and “most of our spp. are considered economically damaging [to plants]”.  In short, this is not a beneficial species on your cucumber plants. 

Thank you.  The adult looks like what we call a stink bug.

Stink Bugs and Leaf Footed Bugs are both True Bugs, but they are different families.
