Found this in my firewood. It is a little more than one inch long. Thought at first it was some kind of tapeworm. What could it be?

This is a beetle larva in the family Buprestidae, the Metallic Borer Beetles or Jewel Beetles, and the larvae are known as Flathead Borers. You can see matching images on BugGuide.
