Hi am have looked everywhere I can online and nothing. But I keep finding these chunks and some look like crumbs. I have even seen smaller very similar shapes in my daughters stool. (Sorry gross but I have). In my home it is myself and my 2 children 3 and 6 years old we all have are own bed and every morning we find this stuff in our beds. Seems like they start off a gray tan color and as they dry up turn orange? Not sure.

Organic Substance?

Dear Curious Mom,
While we are uncertain of the actual identity of the chunks and crumbs you find in the beds in your home, we are quite confident they are neither bugs nor slugs, which leaves parasites or other.  The things in your images look vaguely organic, and our first thought was ear-wax or mucous.   If you suspect there is a malady involved, you should seek professional medical advice.

Chunk or Crumb
Found in Bed

  1. Hi CuriousMom,
I am glad that I found your question. I, too, have been finding these “chunks or crumbs ” throughout my home. I first noticed them about 6 months ago, while I was discovering that we also had flea cocoons. I feel very sure that these things are somehow related, but I don’t know how. One reason that I think so is the fact that, as I began making progress in eradicating the flea problem, I noticed that I was seeing fewer of these yellow/orange things. Another characteristic that I’ve noticed is that these things have a sort of waxy or mushy texture, until they become completely dry. Also, any time that I look at one of these with my magnifying glass, I see at least 1 or 2 black threadlike pieces.

Thankfully, I’m now seeing only maybe 2 of these yellow/orange chunks/particles each day. But before I started clearing the flea problem, I was seeing probably 50 or more per day. Still, it’s driving me nuts not knowing what the heck these things are! I have a couple of photos but they’re quite blurry. I will post update if I think of anything else.

      • The problem is this stuff is everywhere all over the country. The fibers sticking out of it is what as described as morgellons. Please for your sake, Do not go to a doctor and say your finding fibers or crumbs in your bed, now they will write down in your medical record that your delusional parasitosis and your record is ruined after that, they can and will take your kids away and any weapons you have. It’s all part of living out revelations in the Bible I think. I figure we have a lot of rodeos to ride out at this point in our world, and it will only get worse so buckle up.

  3. you haven’t mentioned where you live. but I too am finding the same sort of stuff!! I call them gooey things lol though not funny but gross! they seem to simply appear out of no where!and some get smooch by dog stepping on them or a member in household. they too dry up like a crumb. house once had a carpet beetle infestation. that I thought was solved by the removing of all carpeting in house replaced with ceramic tile. the house gets dusted vacuumed and mopped frequently because we live with 2 dogs and live in central fl. and I’m allergic to dust. I find these on the floor in the morning. I will do a good mopping once everyone is asleep along with the dogs. The floors will be spotless at say 1 a.m. and by 8 a.m.these strange gross things are back! I have gone as far to bring them in to the local extension center for identification still no straight forward answer!! Was told “could” be a larvae or pupa of a variety of sorts. it drives me nuts not knowing what they truly are. I want them GONE for good!my dogs are on Trifexis so fleas we do not have (I would know for I will be bitten if fleas are around I one that gets the itchy bites from all the bitting bugs Im always the first to get bit by fleas mosquitoes no see-ums and all the like I get the most and itch the worst too! I am 100% sure they are not from fleas. I’ve never seen flea “crumbs” or gooey things that kinda look like a booger and I have seen flea “dirt” I have 2 dogs a lab pit mix and a boxer. the lab pit seems to have allergies or something always itchy no matter what I do vets don’t give clear answers either But I wonder if these unknown things crumbs / booger like things have a part in the dogs itchiness. Idk some say I’m crazy and I know I’m not! I find these things very strange and disturbing. I am bewildered by where are they coming from. I don’t see them move but some will smash and others just crumble because they have already dried up. I would love to know what it is I’m dealing with so I can know how to get to the root cause and put an end to this. I am now constantly vacuuming and mopping and I am also having to bathe my dog in a $$ shampoo 2 to 3 times a week so to keep her from getting sores that come from her constant scratching if I only do once a week she gets nasty sores. this has been going I now for a yr!! I think whatever these things are, are to blame in dog’s skin issues too. IDK really Cuz I have sprayed house with many insecides too. nothing seems to help! I have photos but see no way to upload them though they look like the original posters photos!

    • I also have this problem! I live about 30 min south of bangor in maine. It’s been going on for months and I can’t get anyone to believe me!

    • You won’t get rid of that. Whether you believe it or not it’s part of the spraying program that’s been going on all over the world due to global warming and the military pilots actually believe there doing good, little do they know there spreading some of the most poisonous crap from a different world everywhere. If this all sounds too crazy it is trust me. My girl and dog caught this stuff all at the same time, we’ve followed it down all the rabbit holes to find out what it really is, and it’s horrible, and I feel for everyone. You’ll have to go to sleep and tell yourself your going to wake up in a different world to try and understand what this stuff is. H check with Randy Wymore at the Oklahoma University and ask him he’ll know what to tell you about this stuff better than I, because I can’t sugar coat the description and my description you wouldn’t understand. I’m sorry I feel for every living soul on this planet. We’re all being poisoned and you’ll understand soon enough.

    • Being made to think your crazy is part of this stuff we’re being poisoned with. Even trying to explain what this stuff is makes you look crazy because knowone has a open mind. As much as we think we have advanced in life we have not, just a bunch of closed minded people that think there more advanced when they’ve all backed up it seems

  5. I’m going through this now just outside of Chicago and I literally want to crawl out of my skin. We also had a carpet beetle infestation so I thought maybe it was that but it’s not correlating. I feel like we’ve had every freaking kind of bug there is this past year and I’m an obsessive vacuumer to begin with as I have 2 young boys. We have no pets. I’ve been wracking my brain and it seems like we started having problems when we drilled holes in the bedroom ceilings to do electrical work for ceiling fans. If anyone learns anything PLEASE email me!!! Ktowncreates at gmail dot com.

  6. I have orange chunks in my bed and they somehow bite! I don’t have an infestation as u all seem to have. I can tell u that exterminating for roaches and bed bugs does not affect them!

  7. I have the same issue. Everyone thinks I’m crazy. They are tiny and I thought pinworms, was on a dewormer but still have them. They are in my wounds, and ear. Also see them in my tissue after blowing my nose and sometimes around my eyelashes as well as the ear. Need help!!! Going to call Dr when they open and try for another appt…. Since the pinworm fail was over a month ago. I have an autoimmune disease and I’m terrified since I have diarrhea at times and an rather fatigued… More than usual and that’s saying a lot. I’m always fatigued but not like this. Someone help!!! I’ve read so many studies and I’m about to ask for every parasite, cell, and ensyme test possible. This is bad news for someone with such a chronic and fast progressing autoimmune issue amongst a laundry list of others. Which I think is why no one believes me. Even went to the urgent care before my GP out me on dewormer Incase of pin worms. They made me feel crazy too (the urgent care). Ridiculous there isn’t more help. I’m thinking it could be a tick borne [email protected]
