This bug was in my friend’s hair and I must know what it is. Is it some type of weevil?

Dear KDD,
This is indeed an Acorn Weevil or Nut Weevil in the genus
Curculio.  Finding it in your friend’s hair seems purely coincidental.  According to BugGuide:  “Female uses her long snout for boring into nuts/acorns, and deposits eggs there. Larvae feed inside the acorn/nut and emerge to pupate in the soil.”
