I found this insect in swimming pool in Saugerties, Ulster County, New York. It has green translucent wings; green katydid-like legs; size 1-½ to 2”; striped abdomen; and that other green thing (ovipositer?) underneath.
Your thoughts on the i.d. are appreciated.

This is definitely a female Katydid, and that is definitely an ovipositor. We believe this is a Bush Katydid in the genus Scudderia. Because it drowned in the pool, the appearance of the abdomen, including the stripes, might be due to water absorption.
