Blinded Sphinx

Blinded Sphinx

Dear Andrew,
This beautiful Sphinx Moth,
Paonias excaecata, is known as a Blinded Sphinx because the oculi or eyespots on the underwings appear that they do not have pupils.   See BugGuide for additional information on the Blinded Sphinx.
