We have been away from the office for a week and your email is the first we read. Your subject line attracted our attention. This is a common household pest known as a Carpet Beetle Larva. They will eat many organic substances in the home and they have adapted well to cohabitation with humans, though humans do not benefit from the relationship. Adult Carpet Beetles feed on pollen, so they fly outside to mate and then return to the home to lay eggs. Carpet Beetles in the imago stage are mostly observed by homemakers dying in windows.
