What's That Bug? does not endorse extermination

Subject: Beetle Identification

This little beetle is covering many trees in our small town of Johnstown Colorado and stressing the trees severely. I’d like to know what it is and if there are any safe means of getting rid of it. If there are no safe means what would be the least toxic method ?
Thank you,
Terry

Hi Terry,
Your photo is very blurry, but we are relatively certain this is an invasive, exotic species, the Elm Leaf Beetle,
Xanthogaleruca luteola.  The University of California Agriculture & Natural Resources Statewide Integrated Pest Management Program has some helpful and comprehensive information.
