Help identifying an assassin bug
These are occasionally in my yard. I’ve been trying to identify them and haven’t had any luck.

chondrocera tad Leaf Footed Bug

Hi Tad,
What a magnificent specimen. This is not an Assassin Bug, but rather, a member of the Coreid Bug Family, commonly called Leaf Footed Bugs or Big Legged Bugs. The species is new to us, but we identified it on BugGuide as belonging to the genus Chondrocera. A link provided by BugGuide indicates that Chondrocera laticornis is the only species in the genus thusfar reported from Florida and that it is “readily distinguished by the prominently expanded and flattened first three antennal segments”
which are quite evident in your photograph.
