What is this moth?
Hi Bugman!
I thought there was a bird flying around my porch here in San Diego, Ca at around 9:30pm. Turns out to have been a really HUGE moth. It’s about 3 inches long. Any ideas of what it might be? I’ve never seen one this size here. Thanks!
Amy

Hi Amy,
The Tobacco Sphinx is the adult of the Tomato Hornworm. The larval food plants include cultivated solanaceous herbs like tomato as well as native plants like Datura.
